A reproduction of early etching by Belgian artist Pierre Alechinsky, combining expressive abstraction with handwritten poetry.
Quelque chose d'un monde (Something of a World) dates from Alechinsky's early printmaking period of 1952–1953, when he was working at Atelier 17 & developing the spontaneous, calligraphic language that would become central to his work.
Alechinsky was a founding member of the influential CoBrA group & his early work is closely associated with the group's interest in spontaneity, automatic drawing, primitive & childlike forms & the liberation of artistic expression.
